Michigan

Relax and enjoy our new log cabin on the beautiful Au Sable River.

Welcome to our cozy cabin in the woods, located on the Au Sable River. Open year-round, you will find it to be well-equipped, clean and perfect for relaxing.  The kitchen comes stocked with spices, condiments, coffee and some food in the cupboards (in case you arrive late at night).

Our cabin is convenient to charming, downtown Grayling.  While downtown, step back in time and visit
Dawson-Stevens Ice Cream Parlor. On the opposite side of the ice cream parlor enjoy some of the best pizza and breadsticks around at the Bears Den.  While there, take time to look at some of the pictures of the legendary bow hunter, Fred Bear.  Visit the antique store, the Quilt Store, the Bike Shop, the Rialto movie house, Spike’s (famous for it’s Spike Burgers), in addition to other downtown stores.

Enjoy the peaceful surroundings of our cabin while curled up in our porch swing or in one of the
Adirondack chairs. Listen and watch for the many birds, including hawks and the occasional bald eagle.  (We supply the bird seed to keep the feeders filled.) Take one of the two kayaks provided, free, (Spring through Fall) through the woods, down the path, and slip into the peaceful East branch of the Au Sable River for a gentle paddle.  You very well might see an otter. Don’t feel like paddling?  Drift along in one of the inner tubes provided.

Spend a perfect evening relaxing around the fire pit making s’mores. Relax and have a romantic evening in front of the wood stove enjoying a movie (many provided) or listening to music.

We offer all modern conveniences.  We provide board games, cards, checkers, puzzles and children's books.  There is a charcoal grill right outside on the wrap-around deck. Relax there and have your supper, read a book or stretch out in the hammock and watch for deer, wild turkey and other wildlife.

Nearby attractions include the famous “Holy Waters” fly-fishing area,  Mackinac Island (85 miles north), Hartwick Pines State Park(15 minutes), Hanson Hills Ski Resort/Park (10 minutes), Lake Margrethe, Higgins & Houghton Lakes, Gaylord (golf), Traverse City, Petoskey, Tanger Outlet Center (45 minutes south)  and many others.
